Asamushi Sae Midori Sencha - From the first harvest, this is a very special sencha from Ei town, Kagoshima prefecture located at the southern tip of Japan.

A very easy-to-brew green tea, this one is a bit unusual as saemidori is usually encountered in it's deep steamed form, yet this one is light steamed (asamushi) and it retains it's pretty green color.  The saemidori clone of green tea plant is a cross between yabukita and asatsuyu varieties and was only registered in 1990. O-Cha.com was the first internet tea shop to offer Sae Midori to the general public outside of Japan and it indeed has proven itself to be a popular choice since introduction. Strong in color and aroma and a bit on the sweet side, you will be greeted with a very wonderful, grassy aroma upon opening of the package. If you are a connoisseur of light steamed green teas, we think you'll be particularly pleased with this item.

Available in 100 gram packages.

While I would agree that this tea is light, I actually find that a virtue because it allows for this tea's beautiful subtle flavors to shine through.

There's a wonderful sweet and grassy flavor that comes through, subtly, but with wonderful distinction.

The color of this asamushi's liquor is attractive.

A very beautiful tea. And this is the first time I've ever seen Sae Midori in asamushi format.

A rather intriguing tea, one I will continue to thoroughly enjoy.

Very nice. This tea has a pleasant and pungent flavor.

Advantages: The flavor is constantly good and the tea is not bitter or astringent.

Disadvantages: This tea is a little watery to me i wish the flavor filled my senses more.

This is one of my very favorite teas. Much better in my opinion than the deep steamed Sae Midori. But Asamushi seems to be my preference. SO I definitely like the price of this tea. If you like light steamed teas you must try this one. I found it to be simple and unremarkable - just plain good.
