It's our pleasure to be able to offer the outstanding Uji Sencha "Aoi", ("Green") from Japan's oldest teashop, Tsuen Tea. This item consists of yabukita leaves from the first harvest and is Tsuen's second highest ranked sencha, the first being their San no Ma. This lightly steamed sencha (asamushi) yields a very wonderful nice grassy aroma. Here is your chance to try some of the best of what Japan has to offer in Japanese green tea, directly from the banks of the Uji river.

This is by far my favorite. It can be too astrigent if brewed to long or too hot but otherwise is very nicely grassy hinted with sea-broth. I brew it hot at 170 or 172 F for the first one infusion but not for very long - 45 sec I think. It is very unique.

すばらしい!

Certainly this tea does not disappoint. It has a flavour of its own, and using what I will think of as a Canadian technique, I achieved a good taste from the first brew. Its price and quality is comparable with other senchas available more locally to me, and I have no complaints.

My parameters: 1tsp / 4 minutes, 70C 250ml.

I have not tried O-cha's suggested parameters yet.

Advantages: Unique taste
Priced correctly
Bonus points for literary name ;p

This is a good quality sencha with flavor that meets expectations when purchasing in Japan. Although not my favorite of o-cha.com teas, it is noticeably fresher and better quality than what you'll find at your local "Japanese grocery"- no question.

Advantages: Flavor is consistent with teas one purchases at markets/tea shops in Japan= thank you!

Disadvantages: This tea requires a relatively good amount of product to yield a few cups of strong brew. In other words, you'll use a lot of this product if you enjoy strongly brewed tea.

I ordered quite a lot of this in the 2013 shincha form, and it was a fabulous asamushi. I tended to brew the first infusion a bit hot, since otherwise it can go a bit floral, and I don't like floral.

Advantages: Very lovely profile if you like a delicate asamushi and take some trouble to find the optimal brewing parameters for the flavor you want.

Disadvantages: It takes more leaf than a fukamushi and it is a more expensive sencha.
