"Hana no Kaori" translates as "Floral Aroma", which is what this sencha is all about. A rather unusual offering for you, Uji sencha "Hana no Kaori" was obtained through one of the growers of the Tsuen tea shop in Uji Japan. What's different about this tea? This unusual offering became "slightly" fermented. In the case of Chinese oolong tea, this of course is done on purpose. In the case of Japanese sencha, fermentation is normally something to be avoided as the tea will usually no longer be "green" anymore. In the case of "Hana no Kaori" this tea not only fermented slightly, but it also keeps it's very beautiful green color. The result was not only a beautiful green colored sencha, but one with a rather strong oolong-like floral notes and taste. All who have tried it have been impressed with the delicious taste of this sencha green tea - we could not pass it up!

We have a limited amount of this item. If you are a green tea fan who also enjoys oolong tea, we think you'll really appreciate this tasty green tea. Here is your chance to try a very high quality Japanese green tea with unique floral, oolong-like floral characteristics, shipped directly to you from Japan's oldest tea shop on the banks of the Uji river. An extremely delicious green tea!

Make no mistake, this tea IS an oolong. Or rather, a very Japanese take on a Taiwanese high mountain oolong. Expect floral sweetness, intense aroma, all the smoothness you'd expect from a good oolong, with just a slight hint of Japan sencha. I found it a wee bit stronger than typical oolongs, which was good for me because I like an intense-tasting tea. Easily one of the best teas I've bought form O-cha, and that is saying a lot.

Advantages: Extremely floral, sweet
Great for oolong lovers

Disadvantages: Don't get this tea if you want a more grassy/vegetable sencha. This is much more like an oolong than a sencha.

This tea is unique and a great value. I highly recommend this tea for those who enjoy high mountain tea from places like Taiwan. It's got a very soft, lightly sweet flavor. It also brews well and the flavor yield is quite good.

Advantages: unique flavor for a Japanese tea and good flavor yield when brewing

Disadvantages: None- You should try this one.

Very soft and creamy in the mouth and fragrant in the cup with lovely floral overtones and gorgeous color. Fans of Taiwan oolongs will especially appreciate this. I'm glad to see that O-Cha still carries it.

Advantages: Delicious brewed conventionally or cold-brewed for summer (4 g/ 600 ml water is good). Floral quality is unusual and delightful for an asamushicha.

Disadvantages: None, although brewing temps should err on the side of cooler--not a big deal.

A wonderful tea with pleasing floral notes. Worth trying, as it is unlike the other teas from o-cha I've tried. I think it is very good; my wife thinks it is the best tea she's ever had.
