Chiran Asatsuyu Sencha - From the first harvest, a very special sencha from the very old samurai town of Chiran, located at the southern tip of Kagoshima prefecture Japan. This wonderful tea is a variety of the Asatsuyu breed green tea plant. Compared with most of the other Chiran samples we tried this green tea has deep steamed characteristics to it which gives it an exceptional green color, not to mention an aromatic and unique Chiran taste. Try some today!

Includes 100 grams of tea per package.

This was probably the least impressive tea that I have tried from O-cha. For a fukamushi, the flavor is entirely too faint. No matter how you experiment with the steeping parameters, the flavor is always faint. For what it is worth, i found either 160 or 165 to be the best temperature. This isn't to say that I disliked this tea, it still had grassy/seaweedy notes to it, but not enough to make me excited at all. I also am drinking this tea right before the first shincha arrives, so maybe this has some role to play in the light flavor. It is very deeply steamed with very broken up leaf, so maybe its just had all year to degrade in quality.... but then again, they know how to store their tea in Japan so I don't know. Either way, I won't be buying this tea again. I'd much rather spend the 3 extra dollars and get the organic chiran, which I love and is never lacking in flavor.

A really excellent tea, was I bit skeptical with the leaf particles being so small but was blown away with its aroma, look and taste. The liquor color was a deep cloudy green like it had been mixed with high quality matcha the aroma sublime with hints of fresh spring, grass, and nuts, the taste was sweet with hints of seaweed salty air and velvety coating the mouth with a deep rich taste. By far one of the best Teas I have had.

Very tasteful deep steamed sencha. Will buy it again cause its cheap but tastes as much more expensive Kaoru sencha.

Advantages: Price, taste.

This is the first fukamushi sencha that I try and taste. I've heard that fukamushi leaf is crushed to really small, but the size of them surprised a little, it's dustlike. You don't have to be careful of not crushing tea leaves really.
Packing was really good, the package was really beautiful, and you could smell how fresh the tea is. When I opened the package the aroma just blew my mind.
Flavour is quite sweet and mix of nuttiness and cut grass with some marine and seaweedy notes. Not bitter at all. Tea itself is really cloudy and deep green color, I personally like that cloudiness and tiny leaf particles in my tea. Really aromatic and enjoyable flavour and aroma.
Basicially only bad thing in this tea is that you can't stop drinking this. It so goood. Oishii!

Advantages: Fair price, excellent quality, gives 3-5 steeps, easy to brew, really good cold

Disadvantages: Only for fukamushi teapots, I got hooked
