Chiran Asatsuyu Sencha - From the first harvest, a very special sencha from the very old samurai town of Chiran, located at the southern tip of Kagoshima prefecture Japan. This wonderful tea is a variety of the Asatsuyu breed green tea plant. Compared with most of the other Chiran samples we tried this green tea has deep steamed characteristics to it which gives it an exceptional green color, not to mention an aromatic and unique Chiran taste. Try some today!

Includes 100 grams of tea per package.

Taste is almost good, it is very gentle taste for chiran tea.

The thing I do not like about it is: I suspect that color and taste were enhanced by adding matcha. Description claimed that it is deep steamed tea, and that is the reason of color. However, it does not tastes like deep steamed tea, it has acid matcha aftertaste, it has dusty matcha appearance. Second flush gives more acidity and tea color became unnaturally green.

(O-Cha.com Editor's note: This tea does NOT contain matcha, but we let the review stand regardless)

Advantages: Easy to brew, non astringent gentle taste.

Disadvantages: Read comment above. I do not like matcha.

Very bright, rich green colour when brewed. The flavour is very refreshing though a bit more umami than refreshing. Delicious brewed hot or cold.

Advantages: Rich and thick brothy flavour, savoury and slightly vegetal aroma. No bitterness or very little at least.

Disadvantages: Less suitable for frequent daily drinking though could be matched appropriately to certain foods.

Heavenly scent, fresh taste and gorgeous color. I'm loving it.

Advantages: Well balanced tea and good value for the price

Disadvantages: The only minus is the consistency of the leaves. They are shredder rather fine. I'd prefer less fine leaves.

Almost powder like, very easy to brew.
Deep green color with a sweet flowerish scent.
Grassy, earthly, rich taste.

A lot of residue. Together with the rich, but balanced taste, this makes it one of my personal favorites.

And the color is just amazing.
