A very nice handcrafted teapot from Tokoname Japan. While perfect for brewing multiple or single cups of green tea, this teapot was designed for deep steamed green tea (fukamushi-cha) but is suitable for all green teas including gyokuro. Due to the fine, sometimes dust-like nature of fukamushi leaf, small bits of leaf can often get stuck in the stainless steel mesh of many teapots.  Unique to this design is the built-in stainless steel infuser screen which covers just a small area of the inside part of the spout.

This teapot is perfectly adequate for brewing any kind of green tea. The style is charming and simple, the clay is fairly porous and terracotta-like and the mesh strainer is fine enough to work with fukamushi but coarse enough not to get clogged. The one small drawback is that the strainer is not removable and the tea pot requires an occasional soaking to remove the tiny tea particles that get stuck where they can't easily be rinsed out. Great value, and I am considering buying a second one.

This is the first kyusu I have ever purchased. Over the past year it has served me well and is holding up like a champ. In my case, I was looking for a starter level kyusu but what I got was a fine piece of teaware that I will probably use for years to come. Outstanding product.

I have been hunting around for good tea for quite sometime now since being in Japan. I came across this site and decided to give it a try. Let me just say WOW, did I say WOW!
