From the first harvest, this is a very special sencha from Kagoshima prefecture located at the southern tip of Japan. When a sample of this came to us, we could not pass it up.

A very easy to brew green tea! The "Sae Midori" clone of green tea plant is a cross between Yabukita and Asa Tsuyu varieties and was only just registered in 1990. Since it does not tolerate frost, it is mostly grown in Southern Kagoshima. Strong in color and aroma, but a bit on the sweet side, you will be greeted with a very wonderful, grassy aroma upon opening of the package. Without a doubt, this item offers one of the most intense, emerald green color you will likely ever come across in any green tea. We are sure you will be pleased!

This tea is very bitter for my taste. I tried different brewing temperatures and nothing really changed. I don't understand why people think it is sweet. I would recommend the chiran sencha for a better taste with a cheaper price.

Amazing tea! I bought the shincha for first time this year since I drink japanese green tea and I was impressed of all of its characteristics. Deep green color, fascinating aroma and superior taste.

Bold and grassy umami taste, beautiful emerald green color, and predominantly sweet. The aroma when you open the bag is amazing. What I really like about this shincha is regardless of the amount of leaf used, barely any astringency.
Lovely grassy sencha

Creates a beautiful vibrant green color in the cup. Good bold aroma. The taste is full and grassy with some fruit in the background. Easy to brew.

A truly excellent sencha.

This is the first year I've tried shincha, and the Sae Midori is really something. I followed the brew instructions here (~168F, 1 min, 3.9g, 6 fl oz). I adjusted the times for subsequent infusions. This tea is delightfully sweet, grassy.

Bold and intensely grassy with the sweetness of asparagus and an umami backbone.

The single greenest sencha I've ever tried.
