Organic Chiran Sencha - From the first harvest, a very special sencha from Nishimoto, Chiran, Minami-Kyushu, in Japan's Kagoshima Prefecture. This wonderful tea was grown and certified organic. A blend of Yabukita, Yutaka Midori, Asatsuyu and Kanayamidori breeds. Deeply steamed, it has an exceptional green color and is very flavorful and aromatic. This is the first loose Japanese tea I have ever purchased. It took a while to work out how to brew it, since I don't use a scale or own a kyusu, but after getting it down I find this to be a very interesting tea. Sweet, salty, savory seaweed with milk and canteloupe in the aroma. I really enjoy this tea and it is very calming.

Advantages: This tea is reasonably priced and a little goes a long way

Disadvantages: This tea demands more precision, but it is well worth it when you get it right!

Very enjoyable cuppa. This has a subtle sweet grassy sea like taste. The predominant flavour is a root like, almost chocolaty taste. Smooth and easy to brew when following the packet instructions. If your looking for a strong umami or sweet grassy look elsewhere. This tea is not as sweet/grassy as the non organic but has its own charms. I have and will continue to reorder.

Advantages: Easy to brew. Cheap. Not overly seaweedy

Disadvantages: The packet doesn't last forever :)
