Organic Oku Midori - A Kagoshima sencha, quite frankly this is probably one of the best organic sencha green teas we have ever come across! A first rate medium steamed organic green tea. This has become a very popular since we added it to our lineup. The high quality of this green tea is obvious from the first sip and we feel is a particularly good quality value for the price. It has a beautiful green color to it and strong aroma. Harvested from the first round of young spring leaves, it is grown and certified organic. Nitrogen flushed and vacuum packaged, as fresh of an organic green tea as you can get.

Our price includes 100 grams of tea per package.

This is my first organic tea from O-cha and it is quite good. Bought it when they had a sale on for only twelve bucks. Bought 3 and I am so glad I did. It has a flavor you would expect from a chumushi, not too light but not too deep like a fukamushi. However, and I think this point must be made as I have never experienced this with a Japanese tea..... For me it has a flavor profile that is similar to chinese green teas, a dragon well maybe. It is so weird! But so delicious! Not sure if anyone has noticed this but it was the flavors that came into my mind. Nonetheless, this is a great sencha. Please buy it :)

This is my first experience with imported tea of any kind from this site or anywhere else. I had high expectations from finally trying the real deal, and although I ordered at a time of year when the stock had stayed in cold storage for almost a whole year, it did not disappoint. Fortunately, I'll be able to order brand new "shincha" in about a month, and compare the taste of fresh picked Oku Midori.

Having had no prior experience with fresh green tea, here is my unbiased review. The first infusion had more flavor than I was used to from store bought, with a strongly vegetal aftertaste. It was a bit awkward at first, but not unpleasant. After a few sips, I noticed a cooling subtle minty sensation in my mouth and lips. In the second and third infusions, all bitterness drops off completely leaving a great green tea taste that I really enjoy. The difference in taste to store bought is unmistakable. What's more, the caffeine is REAL. It's not as strong as coffee mind you, but it's more pleasant because it picks you up gently. I feel more at peace when I take a half hour to sit down for some real tea, and I'm thankful that I got to experience it from the other side of the world.

Advantages: Great taste, nice caffeine boost, lasts for multiple infusions, older stock still impressed me

Disadvantages: More small leaf particles than I expected, some of them fell through the screen of my teapot and got stuck in it after re-hydrating. Could be because it's been almost a year since the 2013 harvest and it's starting to crumble, but take caution to use either a removable screen or a fine "gyokuro" screen when brewing. Mine was removable, so I had no trouble cleaning it out. I'll be ordering this again when the 2014 harvest is available to compare!

Can't say enough about this quality green tea. Not too grassy taste. Great green color. Able to get multiple steeps. If you've never had any tea from O-cha, trust me - it is far superior to any you've ever bought at a store. I can't think of any negatives to this. Comes vacuumed sealed - you can smell the hills of Japan when you open it! Will purchase this again and again.

This tea is excellent. I find it very well balanced, a perfect green tea. Like another reviewer mentioned it has fruity undertones with just enough grassy taste.

Oku Midori is a wonderful cultivar; if you haven't tried it yet, you really have to.

This tea has a tropical fruit character to it while still remaining very elegant in flavor. It also has a nice grassy aspect to it.

This tea is very well made.

A very tasty organic tea.
