        Hello! I was wondering what the best way would be to get tiny tea particles free from the strainer.

        I’ve used kyusu extensively for years, almost always with stainless steel strainers (my houhin is the only Japanese teapot I have with a built-in ceramic filter). I’ve had this problem before, especially when I drink fukamushicha, but the swing-type filter is even harder to clean, since much of the tea gets stuck on the bottom and there’s only one angle of approach. My previous last-ditch effort involved using a Waterpik to dislodge tea fragments, and then dipping the teapot in boiling water afterwards! That hasn’t worked as well here.

        The teapot is lovely for lovely for pouring, and the particles aren’t too big of a problem now — but when I switch types of tea, I don’t want old fukamushi sticking around.

        Anyway, any tips would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

        Hello,

        Usually the tiny bits will come out pretty easily once the teapot becomes bone dry.

        If you drink a lot of deep steamed green tea, you may want to consider a teapot designed specifically for that. The teapot in question will brew deep steamed of course but it's designed for various teas in general. The teapots designed for deep steamed green tea are taller and only have a fine mesh on one side of the teapot to lessen that situation.

        Is this teapot actually unglazed? It looks very shiny in the photo

        It does have some kind of shiny coating on the whole teapot, but it's not really "glazed" per say, it's much thinner than glaze. More like a paint coating that's baked into the ceramic.

        For me, I must say it is the best I have had over the years.
        The infuser screen is high quality and holds up great.
        I like the simplicity and color.
        It's my favorite and I really enjoy using it.

        Lovely teapot, especially for the price. Looks beautiful, pours well, nicely balanced, and keeps heat well, what more can you ask for at the price?

        Was using a glass teapot before this and getting mixed results. Using this teapot im now brewing consistently good pots of tea.

        I have received this beauty today and just used it to make a beautiful cup of kabusecha. As this was my first time brewing loose leave green tea in a kiyutsu I have nothing to compare it to, but would say that it was quiet easy. The infuser screen is meshed finely enough so that no particles will slip through. I was pleasantly surprised about how small the teapot is, as it looks bigger in the picture. It comfortably brews about 12 ounces of tea. Anything more than that and the water escapes through the top when pouring. It is a simple design but does a fine job!

        My Little Orange Friend!  I have had this teapot for a year and use it 6-10 times daily!! Nice simple design and color. Very easy to clean! The swing mesh works perfectly, I can usually get 3-5 infusions from each tea I use.
