It's O-Cha.com's pleasure to be able to provide you with the Tsuen blend "Otsuusan" karigane sencha, from Japan's oldest tea shop. This is probably the most popular green tea in the Tsuen tea shop in Uji Japan. A proprietary blend Yabukita breed karigane sencha. From Shizuoka, a unique breed of Japanese green tea grown organically. A first rate, first harvest, deep steamed green tea, the high quality is obvious from the first sip. Strong "umami" sweetness, less astringent and mellow. As with many organic green teas, Organic Sencha "Oku Yutaka" is single estate and is not blended. Harvested from the first round of young spring leaves, it is certified organic. Nitrogen flushed and vacuum packaged, as fresh of an organic green tea as you can get.

We came across this rather unique Japanese health related product recently. Similarly Japanese made products offered to customers outside of Japan are usually priced at many times what we offer this fantastic product for. Made by an older, established company in Kumamoto prefecture Japan, this high quality persimmon soap produces a creamy lather and is blended with persimmon tannin, green tea extract, and red clay. It removes oxidized sebum, dirt. In Japan persimmon soap is often used as a solution to the dreaded old person smell (known in Japanese as kareishū 加齢臭) where it is of particular concern due to the high value placed on personal hygiene.

"Old-Person Smell" Really Exists, Scientists Say...

This soap contains high levels of persimmon tannin extracted from persimmon fruit. The tannin in persimmon fruit helps to abolish nonenal chemicals associated with old person smell and has a deodorant effect, acting to reduce body odor associated with seniors.

Persimmon leaf sushi has an antibacterial and deodorant effect. The persimmon tannin in it is believed to have a deodorant effect when it chemically reacts with body odor.

Added Green Tea Extract!

Unlike other expensive, competing products, green tea extract has been added to this soap. Green tea extract contains high levels of polyphenols (catechins), has an added astringency and deodorant effect, among other beneficial effects.

Having personally used this product ourselves, we can attest that it is a very pleasant general purpose soap in addition to it's other unique properties.

Grown organically in the mountainous Kirishima area of Kagoshima. Medium steamed, this sencha has an intense green color to it, medium body, and carries a rather intense, nice grassy aroma and an unusually strong umami flavor. Organic Kirishima Sencha has a very nicely balanced astringency, aroma and taste. The quality of this tea got our attention and we decided to carry it for those organic green tea enthusiasts who demand the very best. Very delicious, we are confident you will enjoy this product. From Uji, near Kyoto, Uji Karigane Gyokuro "Asagiri" is a high quality blend of first harvest gyokuro leaf and gyokuro stems. Gyokuro is shade grown before harvesting, giving it a greener color and sweeter taste. While this is a very delicious green tea in it's own right, since brewing gyokuro takes practice to perfect we feel this green tea also makes a very good introduction to gyokuro brewing at an economical price point. The added stems add a tartness to this green tea and the combination of the two make this one very tasty Japanese green tea.

It is prepared in exactly the same way as regular gyokuro, meaning more leaf brewed at a lower temperature for a longer period of time. Use 10 grams per 300ml or less of water. Grown organically in the mountainous Kirishima area of Kagoshima Prefecture. Lightly steamed, organic Kirishima Zairai sencha has a light yellow green color to it, medium body, and rather unique taste and aroma due to it's high iron content.  Zairai means "native" in Japanese and refers to the fact that this tea is from no known modern cultivar and is a close derivitive of the original tea plants imported into Japan from China in the 14th century. Since it is "wild" and grown from seed instead of cloning, there is quite a lot of variation between individual plants which gives the leaf a non-uniform leaf structure and charactaristics of a blend. Although it is considered a hardier plant to culitviate, the lack of leaf conformity, in addition to lower yield than recent clones does not encourage growers to grow it means you will not come across this unique tea often.
