I'm most likely going to use the "Small Packets Air" shipping choice because it's significantly cheaper than the FedEx options, I'm just worried the long transit in the middle of the summer will affect the flavour/quality once it arrives. Is this something I should be concerned about?
Jul 16, 2025, 09:42Well, summer heat and matcha - I would say yes, use FedEx.

I am tempted to try this for every day matcha, whilst saving the ceremonial matcha for in between days. I assume ceremonial matcha has so many more compounds that a comparison to that is not reasonable. But I wonder if this matcha might closely follow behind a fresh sencha with regard to beneficial compounds?
Jun 3, 2025, 05:04This matcha is used in lattes, smoothies, baked goods. It's really good for that, but it's not on the same level as ceremonial grade matcha.

Hi! Just dropped my review on this great cooking matcha, and I was just wondering if it could be purchased in bigger amounts? Granted, I know 300g is already a lot as is, but I'm feeling a bit extravagant considering how affordable this is. Maybe sometime next year if my family finishes it a bit too quickly, haha.
Dec 22, 2020, 12:45We only sell that in 300 gram sizes, however you can simply increase the quantity you purchase

Hello, since shipping is expensive right now, I am thinking about getting a larger batch but worried how fresh the matcha is right now. If I buy cooking matcha right now, what harvest date will I receive? Is there any new harvest coming up in the near future?
May 10, 2020, 12:07Hello,
This is a product which is fresh whenever you buy it. Even though the harvest date was last year it's stored under special refrigerated conditions and not packaged until we request it. Typically, however, higher quality matcha is harvested in May and allowed to age. Usually the new harvest of this matcha comes out in June or July, however, as this is cooking matcha and not ceremonial grade. I think it will not matter what time of the year you purchase it, the quality will be fresh and it will be the same. - Feb 4, 2020, 00:24
For this cooking matcha, what is its latest batch date? Want to know if it is fresh!
Feb 4, 2020, 00:41We just got it in a week ago, we always sell fresh.
- BrianNov 9, 2025, 10:32A nice value. I wouldn't completely recommend for lattes because it's slightly too bitter for my taste; nevertheless I keep it refrigerated and use it when I run out of other matcha.
- Ali JJul 28, 2025, 04:36This matcha is too good to be true. No really, has no business being so good yet so affordable.
I’d gladly drink this, let alone cook with it. - Israel SolturaDec 21, 2020, 20:32Ordered this on O-Cha's recommendation after we reviewed their powdered Sencha. It arrived in less than a week, but I only got to review it now because it's been rather busy lately.
This is even better than the powdered Sencha, and for (I think) the same price per gram! Started with a raw tasting. So much umami in a humble cup. And not a hint of astringency unlike the sencha. Even when I lick any loose powder off of the teaspoon I use to scoop it. The colour is more of an olive green rather than the electric green I imagined, but this is cooking grade matcha, and it doesn't detract from the taste.
I put it in everything I drink that isn't water: my protein shakes, meal replacement shakes, and it complements them quite nicely.
Gives me quite a bit of energy to boot. I remember not taking it the other day and I ended up napping for several hours. It really keeps me up when I have to. :)
Thank you for the recommendation! I'll likely keep this in stock for regular consumption. And then save up for something a bit fancier later down the road. Looking forward to more of your great offerings! - Marin RadićApr 11, 2018, 01:37Best cooking grade matcha money can buy. Color and taste really prove the quality. Gonna be ordering regulary from now on.
- AndersonApr 1, 2018, 02:39Absolutely delicious in a latte. Compared to matchas from outside Japan, the taste blows them out of the water, even ones labelled "ceremonial grade." Can't wait to use in smoothies and baking.
- PhilMar 23, 2018, 02:02Very competitive price and great value-for-money quality. We use this mostly for baking or sweets and it's very suitable for that. Matcha lattes are also possible but we found it more suited for cooking pursuits. Loose, the matcha's color is a bit dull but this shouldn't be compared with ceremonial grade matcha anyway and in baked goods the color turns a vibrant dark green. Hopefully, it will keep a while - 300g is quite a lot.
- KobchaipukMar 5, 2018, 21:36Great matcha for my cookign and latte everyday i like it
- SandorJul 7, 2017, 01:32Exceptional value and the taste is great baked in smoothie or just drink on it is own. I promise, you won’t find better culinary grade matcha for that price, not even in Japan. Much better than most of the low priced so called ceremonial grade matcha you see on sale outside of Japan. Buy with confidence, you won’t be disappointed.
