From Uji Japan, one of our most popular items. Not to be confused with the "Matcha" used for the tea ceremony, Powdered Sencha is a good sencha that is ground into a talcum-like fine green powder. 1/4 teaspoon in hot water will give you an immediate supply of the healthy ingredients in green tea. Many add this to their shake mixes. Try it today!

I add this powdered Sencha to my smoothies in blender, make green tea latte, or just enjoy it by itself with hot water. The flavor is great in any way. Really recommend to try it.

I discovered powdered Sencha tea during a trip to a sushi bar in Tokyo. Back in the US, searching the Internet for a powdered Sencha, I stumbled upon the O-Cha website.

This tea reminds me of the one that I tasted in Tokyo. It has a very nice flavor. I really enjoy it a bedtime ritual.

This sencha is perfect for making "green tea latte" which is popular in Tokyo. Dissolve a teaspoon of Uji powdered sencha in a small amount of hot water, add some almond milk and a little Agave syrup for sweetness then microwave until desired temperature is reached.

This is the best green tea I have ever had!!! It's the real deal, not that brown swill that the supermarkets sell. Cheers!!!

Love the fact that this Sencha is powedered, & you get the full benefit from the tea. Lovely dark green colur & mixes quite well. Sometimes powder at bottom but i just keep a spoon handy & keep stirring. Great taste

This is a new favourite of mine. It's easy to use, and it's delicious. I did a few experiments with it and found a really nice combination: I use a small teaspoon of the powder in a mug of hot water (I first mix it with a little bit of water to make a paste and then gradually add more water), and then I add a splash of goat's milk. I don't know if you're allowed to do that with green tea, but I find that in this instance, it goes really well with the taste and highlights just the right tones in it, although it's also super delicious in water alone.

I wanted to order organic SENCHA, but I ordered regular SENCHA by mistake. Are the SENCHA leaves sprayed with harmful chemicals if it is not organic ?

Japan has very strict regulations regarding MRL's (maximum residue levels) of all food products, including tea. The Positive System of Agricultural Chemicals in Japan strictly regulates what types of pesticides can be used, how much can be used, and when they can be used. Growers must record what was used, when it was used, and how much used, and then submit the reports to the authorities.

Japanese green tea is further tested for maximum residue levels and are not allowed on the market if they go even slightly above the safety standard.

We would not even consider selling green tea which had harmful chemicals in it.

You can read more technical details here: http://www.mhlw.go.jp/english/topics/foodsafety/positivelist060228/introduction.html

Does powdered sencha need to be whisked like matcha?

No, you normally just stir it in hot water. This will not actually dissolve however, you should mix it up and drink it relatively soon.

    Hi,

Could you describe the difference between Uji Powdered Sencha and Uji Organic Powdered Sencha in taste and in nutrition.. Which one is beginner friendly?

    Thanks

There is really no difference in taste and nutrition between these two teas, one is organically grown and the other isn't. I can't say one tastes better than the other, they are comparable outside of the organic label.
