Washi Green Tea Canister
These canisters are not only beautiful, they are hand-made especially for storing green tea. Made to hold 100 grams of tea perfectly. Made of steel, they are durable, each having a slightly tapered rim for easy removal of lid, and also feature a fitting inner plastic lid for a tight seal. Since each is handmade with Japanese washi wazome paper, no two are exactly alike.
Each green tea canister measures 63mm x 113mm (2.5 inches x 4.5 inches).
Note: As no two canisters are exactly alike, we cannot take requests on a particular canister pattern. In your "customer notes" area when checking out you can add a color preference and we will try our best to match that if it is available.

Hi, are these made in Japan ? Does the paper deteriorate quickly ? :)
Dec 28, 2019, 12:31Hello,
Yes, these are made in Japan. No, the paper does not deteriorate quickly, I have some made 15 or 20 years ago and they look the same as when they were new. - Dec 11, 2019, 01:55
I was thinking about ordering 12 tea canisters. How many different designs are there? Will all of them be different?
Dec 11, 2019, 13:16There is an unlimited number of designs, each is hand made so they will all be different.

Is this one designed for matcha storage?
Thanks.Oct 3, 2019, 15:48Hello
Not really for matcha. However, most of our matcha come in re-sealable canisters.
- JordanOct 31, 2017, 02:57I got a blue washi container and the art is gorgeous. The washi itself has an unexpected but welcome texture. The 2nd lid that comes with it to ensure the tea isn't exposed for long combined with the primary lid make this container travel-friendly. It doesn't quite hold all the tea I poured into it but it's a nitpick as long as you keep the original bag. It's a good, aesthetic value for your tea shelf/cabinet!

- Laszlo GlaszApr 5, 2017, 02:10Absolutely beautiful canisters and tha fact that you don't know for sure what kind of pattern do you get is a big plus for me. Store the gyokuros in this and the senchas in the painted steel ones.
- Bennett HallFeb 16, 2017, 09:18I love these canisters. So beautiful and collectible. It's also a plus that you don't know exactly what design you'll be getting. I got two-- one ended up navy blue and the other bright red. They're now on display on my shelf. And reasonably priced for sure!
- CaseyMar 4, 2016, 04:25The canister is beautiful for sure, a visual paean to traditional Japanese artwork that will match your bag of tea better than any Ziploc could. I'm not sure it has the Ziploc beat in terms of air-tightness however--yes there are two layers of sealants but the outer lid feels the tiniest bit loose. This is a minor nitpick however--I don't think the freshness is going anywhere and for the price you likely won't find a better receptacle for your tea.
- Katya TabakovaJan 24, 2016, 05:10The canister is very beautifully decoupaged with Japanese paper. Mine in particular came in wonderful red textured with white flower motives. Decent quality of the lids and box themselves as well.
