How do you clean this? Is there a recommended option ?
Jan 28, 2024, 09:15You don't really need to clean it outside of making sure most of the matcha is removed with a brush or something to that effect.

Hello,
Does the metal tool come with the sifter/canister? Can the matcha be stored in the container after sifting?
ThanksSep 17, 2020, 07:59Hello,
The tool comes with the canister/sifter. You shouldn't really use this to store the matcha, only to sift it.
- Beth AMar 31, 2019, 04:06I'm very happy with this sifter. It's very easy to use, and quickly sifts matcha without difficulty. As with any sieve, there can be some minor collecting of sifted material around the edges, but if you don't mind leaving it, it doesn't continue to build up.
As I have a scale for measuring my other teas, and didn't have a good sense of how much I was putting on my matcha spoon, I just set the sifter on my scale, and solve the problem by putting the matcha on the screen. I find that 2.5g of matcha to an eyeballed amount of water (as we don't have a shot glass) works well for me in the morning. - JordanOct 31, 2017, 02:54Excellent container for sifting matcha. The provided pusher can maneuver the curved perimeter well. I bought the red container and the gold calligraphy really stands out! I recommend these.
- NYCTeaSep 23, 2017, 02:26Really great accessory -- so glad I finally got this. Does a great job of getting out the clumps. Yes, some precious powder does get stuck in crevices, but it is worth it to get a lump-free bowl of matcha. I discarded the plastic paddle and use a stainless steel espresso spoon to work the matcha through the sieve.
- Yewho WongDec 22, 2015, 20:35It does its job well, but matcha does get stuck at hard to clean places. I clean it using kleenex and I notice alot of good stuff go to waste.
- Angela JacksonMay 21, 2015, 06:28Beautifully made! Recommended.
- Denise MacColemanMar 15, 2015, 18:37Beautiful sifter, works great, so handy to have.
- Michael FreeneyAug 23, 2014, 05:04Great option for sieving your matcha, and making my morning brew is noticeably easier. However, loses one star as I have noticed that around the edges of the sieve part tend to collect matcha and its not terribly easy to clean. other than that its a great addition
- James WinterbottomJul 5, 2014, 22:47This sifter is perfect for getting out those troublesome clumps. It also is painted nicely and will go with anyone's tea set.
Advantages: Sifts out clumps
keeps the matcha off the table or desk while sifting. Looks great with other matcha accessories
Disadvantages: Is Not a storage container for Matcha. The plastic paddle it comes with wears on the sifting screen and gets into the matcha.
To fix this simply either use the paddle on some 200 grit sand paper. or use a tea spoon to sift in stead
