Deep Steamed "Fukamushi" Green Tea

fukamushi deep steamed green teaFukamushi Sencha -The green teas in this category, known in Japanese as "fukamushi-cha", or deep steamed green tea, are steamed for a longer period of time than your typical sencha. The period in which any green tea is steamed depends on various characteristics, where it was grown, elevation, etc., and like light steamed green tea, not all green teas are suitable for deep steaming.

Loose leaf fukamushi sencha will be very fine, almost dust-like - beginners often misinterpret this to mean an inferior tea which it is not. When brewed fukamushi sencha has a somewhat cloudy appearance, a rich and bold taste, and an usually a darker, greener color. As the leaf particles of fukamushi-cha are very fine, it can clog small filters. We recommend your fukamushi teapot have a fine stainless mesh infuser screen which covers the inner spout, and that your teapot be tall, rather than wide (although you can still use most wide teapots with a stainless steel infuser screen.)

From the first harvest, this is a very special sencha from Kagoshima prefecture located at the southern tip of Japan. O-Cha.com was the first internet tea shop to offer Sae Midori to the general public outside of Japan and it indeed has proven itself to be a popular choice since introduction.

A very easy to brew green tea! The "Sae Midori" clone of green tea plant is a cross between Yabukita and Asatsuyu varieties and was only just registered in 1990. Since it does not tolerate frost, it is mostly grown in Southern Kagoshima. Strong in color and aroma, but a bit on the sweet side, you will be greeted with a very wonderful, grassy aroma upon opening of the package. Without a doubt, this item offers one of the most intense, emerald green color you will likely ever come across in any green tea. We are sure you will be pleased!

Note that this is a deep steamed green tea with very fine, almost dust-like leaf particles. While you can brew it in a variety of teapots, it is best prepared in a teapot designed for fukamushi-cha (deep steamed green tea)

From the first harvest, a very special sencha from Kagoshima prefecture located at the southern tip of Japan. Kagoshima Sencha Yutaka Midori - Undoubtedly one of our most most popular green teas, this item is definitely a favorite with green tea connoisseurs. Yutaka Midori is an exceptionally "green" green tea. We urge you to compare this sencha against any of the others available on the internet for it's nice emerald green color, wonderful aroma, and excellent taste. The reviews speak for themselves!

From the first harvest, Kagoshima Sencha Yutaka Midori "Madoka" is a very special sencha from Kagoshima prefecture located at the southern tip of Japan. Madoka is quite similar to our original Yutaka Midori but is a bit less grassy, has a bit less steaming, and a bit more astringency, which means it probably also packs a bit more catechin punch. Brew with a bit more caution by paying particular attention to brew temperature and brew time.  Try some today!

From Ariake Town, Kagoshima, an extremely flavorful, full of umami,  deep steamed green tea.  The high quality of this Oku Midori fukamushi green tea is obvious from the first sip. It has a very beautiful emerald green color to it and strong aroma. Harvested from the first round of young spring leaves. Our personal opinion - This is probably one of the all around best green teas you will ever drink. Nitrogen flushed and vacuum packaged, as fresh of a green tea as you can get.

Our price includes 100 grams of tea per package.

A first rate, first flush green tea. Harvested from the first round of young spring leaves, this 100% Yabukita green tea comes from the famous Makinohara tea growing district in Shizuoka Prefecture. Very green and very thick. Fukamushi Sencha "Kaoru" has a somewhat more pronounced grassy aroma and taste compared with the average deep steamed green tea and the taste remains on the palate for an extended time.

An overall easy brewer (a teapot for fukuamushi-cha is recommended, however). Be sure to not brew too hot, for too long, or with too much leaf. As with all of our loose leaf green teas, freshly packaged in nitrogen filled bags.

Price shown includes 100 grams of tea per package.

From Shizuoka, a unique breed of Japanese green tea grown organically. A first rate, first harvest, deep steamed green tea, the high quality is obvious from the first sip. Harvested from the first round of young spring leaves, it is certified organic. Nitrogen flushed and vacuum packaged, as fresh of an organic green tea as you can get.

Includes 100 grams of tea per package.

Grown organically in Chiran, Kagoshima Prefecture. The 2015 version of  organic Asanoka fukamushi sencha is deep steamed (fukamushi). This sencha has an nice green thick color to it and carries a rather prominant, nice grassy aroma and taste. Very nicely balanced color, astringency, aroma and taste, this has been priced competitively and is a very good value considering it's high quality. Very delicious, we are confident you will enjoy this product. As with all of our loose leaf green teas, packaged in nitrogen flushed packaging.
