Yutaka Midori is an exceptionally "green" green tea. From the first harvest, this is a very special sencha from Kagoshima prefecture located at the southern tip of Japan. O-Cha.com was the first internet tea shop to offer Sae Midori to the general public outside of Japan and it indeed has proven itself to be a popular choice since introduction.

A very easy to brew green tea! The "Sae Midori" clone of green tea plant is a cross between Yabukita and Asatsuyu varieties and was only just registered in 1990. Since it does not tolerate frost, it is mostly grown in Southern Kagoshima. Strong in color and aroma, but a bit on the sweet side, you will be greeted with a very wonderful, grassy aroma upon opening of the package. Without a doubt, this item offers one of the most intense, emerald green color you will likely ever come across in any green tea. We are sure you will be pleased!

Note that this is a deep steamed green tea with very fine, almost dust-like leaf particles. While you can brew it in a variety of teapots, it is best prepared in a teapot designed for fukamushi-cha (deep steamed green tea)

From the first harvest, Kagoshima Sencha Yutaka Midori "Madoka" is a very special sencha from Kagoshima prefecture located at the southern tip of Japan. Madoka is quite similar to our original Yutaka Midori but is a bit less grassy, has a bit less steaming, and a bit more astringency, which means it probably also packs a bit more catechin punch. Brew with a bit more caution by paying particular attention to brew temperature and brew time.  Try some today!

This organic green tea hails from Kirishima Kagoshima and is of course harvested from the first round of young leaves. Medium-steamed (chūmushi) this Organic Sae Midori has a lovely green color.  With a strong aroma, flavorful umami taste, and nice balance of astringency, this organic sencha is nicely balanced and is one of our best aquasitions of the year.  As with all of our loose leaf green teas, packaged in nitrogen flushed packaging.

Packed with umami and one of our personal favorites, this delicious green tea comes from Kagoshima and is of course harvested from the first round of young leaves.  When we first offered this in 2017, we knew we would buy it the moment we tried it. Organic Sae Midori asamushi is a light steamed green tea of the Sae Midori clone and is somewhat rare to be processed in the light steamed form. This product is both flavorful and aromatic, much more so than the typical deep steamed Sae Midori. If you are a light-steamed green tea fan, you should really enjoy this one.  As with all of our loose leaf green teas, packaged in nitrogen flushed packaging.

Grown organically in the mountainous Kirishima area of Kagoshima. This is a rather exclusive product, only the tips of the young tender buds are used. Light steamed, this sencha has a medium body and carries a rather intense, nice grassy aroma and an unusually strong umami flavor. Organic Kirishima Asamushi Sencha has a very nicely balanced astringency, aroma and taste. This green tea comes from Kirishima City, Kagoshima and is of course harvested from the first round of young leaves.  Organic Sae Midori Kabusecha is grown for 14 to 20 days under 45% shade before harvest giving it taste characteristics of both sencha and gyokuro. This light steamed (asamushi) version comes from the Sae Midori clone and it is somewhat rare to be processed in kabusecha form.  A sweeter, less astringent taste than regular sencha, it has a lovely green color and is quite flavorful. Brew as you would for sencha. As with all of our loose leaf green teas, packaged in nitrogen flushed packaging.

Grown organically in Kirishima Kagoshima, Kagoshima Organic Sencha "Kurasawa" is an organic light steamed sencha green tea which has a rather intense green-yellow color to it and carries a a nice grassy aroma. 

Unique to this sencha is it's high catechin levels - this green tea has approximately 1.5 to 2 times higher levels of catechins than regular sencha! For this reason it is also packs a very astringent punch to it so brew with care at lower tempertures. If you are looking for maximum green tea health benefits and high levels of catechins, this is your tea! From the first harvest, a very special sencha from Nishimoto, Chiran, Minami-Kyushu, in Japan’s Kagoshima Prefecture. This wonderful tea was grown and certified organic. A blend of Yabukita, Yutaka Midori, Asatsuyu and Kanayamidori breeds. Deeply steamed, it has an exceptional green color and is very flavorful and aromatic.

Grown in Kagoshima Prefecture. Somewhere between light and medium steamed. We knew we had to aquire this when we tasted it as it has a quite strong aroma and very pleasant umami taste. Very nicely balanced this has been priced competitively and is a very good value considering it's high quality. Very delicious, we are confident you will enjoy this product. Grown organically in the mountainous Kirishima area of Kagoshima Prefecture. Lightly steamed, organic Kirishima Zairai sencha has a light yellow green color to it, medium body, and rather unique taste and aroma due to it's high iron content.  Zairai means "native" in Japanese and refers to the fact that this tea is from no known modern cultivar and is a close derivitive of the original tea plants imported into Japan from China in the 14th century. Since it is "wild" and grown from seed instead of cloning, there is quite a lot of variation between individual plants which gives the leaf a non-uniform leaf structure and charactaristics of a blend. Although it is considered a hardier plant to culitviate, the lack of leaf conformity, in addition to lower yield than recent clones does not encourage growers to grow it means you will not come across this unique tea often.

This organic green tea hails from Kirishima Kagoshima and is of course harvested from the first round of young leaves. Light-steamed (chūmushi) Organic Sencha Meiryoku has a lovely green color.  Medium aroma, somewhat low astringency, this organic sencha is nicely balanced, easy to make, and easy to drink - one of our best aquasitions of the year.  As with all of our loose leaf green teas, packaged in nitrogen flushed packaging.

Our Green Tea with Matcha Tea Bags (Matcha-Iri-Tea Bags) are a concentrated sencha grown in Kagoshima Prefecture. A combination of loose leaf green tea and powdered sencha (not tea dust), this tea bag comes in the form of a triangular, nylon mesh bag, and will not affect the taste as traditional paper tea bags are known to do. This is an strong green tea, and is especially recommended for iced tea or for use with a larger sushi teacup. For iced tea, we recommend one tea bags per liter/quart. Simply add the tea bags in the water, and refrigerate.

While this green tea would be a very good tea for beginners, even seasoned green tea fans appreciate this sencha. One of the few second harvest green teas we sell, we carry Daily Sencha because it is an above average quality sencha and offers a very good quality-to-price ratio. This green tea is far and away better than what you will find at most grocery or health food stores and is freshly packaged in Japan within a very short time of when you purchase it. This item is a blend of green tea leaf from Japan's Southern Kyushu tea growing region. Be sure not to brew with too much heat or for too long or it can be overly bold.
