From the first harvest, this is a very special sencha from Satsuma town in Kagoshima prefecture located at the southern tip of Japan. O-Cha.com was the first internet tea shop to offer Sae Midori online to the general public outside of Japan and it indeed has proven itself to be a popular choice among customers ever since.

This limited edition, competition grade Satsuma Sae Midori is light-steamed (a bit unusual for Sae Midori which is usually deep steamed), flavorful, a bit intense yellowish in color, and has a strong aroma and umami taste that lingers on the palate for a long time. Our Sae Midori lineup was already well represented and we had no plans to add anymore but we came across this and it was simply just too good to pass up.  Note that our alloted inventory of this item probably will not last for the entire season.

Sae Midori is clone of green tea plant is a cross between Yabukita and Asatsuyu varieties and was only just registered in 1990. Since it does not tolerate frost, it is mostly grown in Southern Kagoshima.

Available in 100 gram packages.

This is a really really great tea. It reminds me of a more flavorful Aoi Uji Asamushi Sencha.

Both end up cloudy for me. I tend to prefer cloudy sencha. I'm not sure why, but I have noticed the pattern that I seem to like them.

Hi, I had place 2 Satsuma in my shopping cart, but now a week later ???? when I went to place the order, with new sincha, it says I can’t place my order. I guess no more Satsuma?
    Thanks, Victoria

Most of our 2018 green teas are either sold out or are almost sold out. We have 2019 teas online but not that one just yet.
