Organic Sencha Tsuyu Hikari - Defininetly one of the better sencha green teas finds we have tried this year.  This light steamed sencha green tea is produced in Satsuma, Kagoshima Prefecture and of course is harvested from the first round of young leaves. This is a rather unusually delicious batch with beautiful green needles and great balance, it has a rich, silky mouthfeel.  As with most light steamed green teas, some of the taste is subtle but this one has a very nice, pronounced umami and lingering aftertaste.

We have obtained a limited supply of this fantastic green tea, if you love a flavor packed light green tea it's hard to beat this one.

EXQUISITE tea. Feels creamy in my mouth (somewhat like milk oolong), with perfectly rounded/balanced flavour with no astringency. There's subtle umami in the mix that keeps me wanting to drink more. Like the other reviewer, I tend to use a higher proportion of tea and lower temperature vs other green teas, and easily get at least 4 steeps. Of all my years drinking various O-cha tea, this might be my favourite!

Subtle lingering complexity and good value. Yes, it has that potent umami at first, very deep, thick, rich, leaning towards "salty", seems almost like the definition of umami to me. Afterwards it has that lingering fruity/flowery/indescribable aftertaste that I look for when choosing any Japanese tea. Aftertaste still penetrates my palate to the fifth steep but the body is naturally thin by this point. I brew a bit cooler with more leaf leaning in between sencha and gyokuro steeping methods. Moves from bold umami to piercing yet delicate aftertaste. Very unique.
