From the first harvest, this is a very special sencha from Kagoshima prefecture located at the southern tip of Japan. O-Cha.com was the first internet tea shop to offer Sae Midori to the general public outside of Japan and it indeed has proven itself to be a popular choice since introduction.
A very easy to brew green tea! The "Sae Midori" clone of green tea plant is a cross between Yabukita and Asatsuyu varieties and was only just registered in 1990. Since it does not tolerate frost, it is mostly grown in Southern Kagoshima. Strong in color and aroma, but a bit on the sweet side, you will be greeted with a very wonderful, grassy aroma upon opening of the package. Without a doubt, this item offers one of the most intense, emerald green color you will likely ever come across in any green tea. We are sure you will be pleased!
Note that this is a deep steamed green tea with very fine, almost dust-like leaf particles. While you can brew it in a variety of teapots, it is best prepared in a teapot designed for fukamushi-cha (deep steamed green tea)
Available in 100 gram packages.

From the first harvest, this is a very special sencha from Satsuma town in Kagoshima prefecture located at the southern tip of Japan. O-Cha.com was the first internet tea shop to offer Sae Midori online to the general public outside of Japan and it indeed has proven itself to be a popular choice among customers ever since.
This limited edition, competition grade Satsuma Sae Midori is light-steamed (a bit unusual for Sae Midori which is usually deep steamed), flavorful, a bit intense yellowish in color, and has a strong aroma and umami taste that lingers on the palate for a long time. Our Sae Midori lineup was already well represented and we had no plans to add anymore but we came across this and it was simply just too good to pass up. Note that our alloted inventory of this item probably will not last for the entire season.

New for 2018, Shizuoka Sencha Tsuyuhikari is a hybrid of Asatsuyu and Shizuoka 7132 cultivars. A first rate green tea, it was harvested from the first round of young spring leaves. Deep steamed, this green tea was grown in Kakegawa tea growing district in Shizuoka Prefecture. Very green and very thick. has a somewhat more pronounced grassy aroma and taste compared with the average deep steamed green tea and the taste remains on the palate for an extended time.
An overall easy brewer (a teapot for fukuamushi-cha is recommended, however). Be sure to not brew too hot, for too long, or with too much leaf. As with all of our loose leaf green teas, freshly packaged in nitrogen filled bags.

Kirari 31, from the first harvest, is a rather rare and especially delicious sencha from Miyazaki prefecture located in Southern Japan. O-Cha.com was the first internet tea shop to offer Sae Midori online years ago to the general public outside of Japan and now we belive we are the first to introduce this newer sencha variety as well.
"Kirari 31" is derived from a cross of Saki Midori and Sae Midori (which was a cross between Yabukita and Asatsuyu varieties). It matures early in the season. The breed was first produced in 1994 with traits such as growth, disease resistance, cold resistance, and tea quality in mind. Kirari 31 is an early maturing species and because it has excellent frost resistance, it can be cultivated in tea production areas throughout Japan including hilly and mountainous areas.
The quality of the tea on it's own is higher than that of "Yabukita" or "Samidori", has an excellent in color with a mild flavor and "Samidori" quality. Even when processed as gokuro, it is as good as "Samidori". This sencha green tea is ligh steamed, very aromatic, nicely balanced astringency, and produces a strong umami taste and excellent tea quality. Be the first to try this unique tea today, and currently only available at O-Cha.com!
