From the first harvest, a very special sencha from the very old samurai town of Chiran, located at the southern tip of  Kagoshima prefecture Japan. This wonderful tea is a variety of the "Yutaka Midori" breed green tea plant. Compared with most of the other Chiran samples we tried this green tea has deep steamed characteristics to it which gives it an exceptional green color, not to mention an aromatic and unique Chiran taste. Try some today!

When I first opened the bag I was excited! The freshness and quality were evident in this tea. However, on the first brew the tea yielded a bitter cup, even when brewed well below the recommended brew time and temperature. With some tweaking and "airing out" of the leaves I am now able to brew 3 nice steeps of this tea that I am satified with. This tea definetly has a more bitter profile to it compared to other premium senchas, and I brew it at extremely low temps for sencha, nearing gyokuro brewing parameters, which works nicely.

Not as complex as more pricey offerings, but yields a nice buttery and rich first and second steep and rounds out nicely on the third. Plenty of deep green color once you get the hang of it as well.

Also my first tea from your shop and i'm pleased with it, especially for this price.

The smell is very sweet and the taste smooth with low bitterness and astringency.

Definitely worth a try!
Very Nice for a First Tea

This is my first green tea i have bought from O-Cha and i had quite high expectations for it.

However i still managed to become surprised by the quality of this, the packaging brilliant, nice instructions and information about the tea and such.

As for the tea it's self i must say the colour was superb a lovely emerald green just like it said, it took me a few cups to get used to the change of tea (as this is fairly new to me) but after i adjusted i could tell it was a lovely tea rich flavour and fairly strong aroma though not too strong.

This is quite a good tea to start with i think as it's simple cheap and of a very good quality and it's a Shincha (1st Harvest) so I'll recommend it for that but it's also a great tea all round so hey.
Excellent!

A great vaule for Yutaka Midori leaf. I am very pleased with the flavor and aroma which is second only to YM 'classic' from O-Cha. I will continue to reorder this one!!!

Don't let its low price fool you, this sencha is almost as good as some of the more expensive ones! Of course it's fresh, not difficult to brew, it has an amazing value and the quality is very good!
Pleasantly Surprised

I was very happy with this Sencha. As another reviewer mentioned, this is one to at least try. It's one I will be ordering again.

A beautiful tea coming out of Kagoshima. Great value. Very similar to Yutaka Midori, if only not quite as good.

Resteeps very well.

Highly recommended.

This is a very solid sencha. It is great in every aspect. Excellent color, great taste, smooth, great aroma. Flavor does nothing too fancy, but could not be better for what it is. Excellent.
Wow!

This is a great sencha! i would definitely recommend you try it at least once, although i doubt you'd be able to only have it once, and at that price it's a steal. This is one of the best senchas I've ever had. Nice pick Kevin!
