From the first harvest. Kabusecha is grown in the shade for 14~20 days before harvest under 45% shade, giving it characteristics of both sencha and gyokuro. A sweeter, less astringent taste than regular sencha, it is a lovely green color with a clear, not-so-cloudy liquid. Brew as you would for sencha, not gyokuro.

Available in 100 gram packages.

first infusion is heavenly, a good flavor of sencha with tones of gyokuro on the tongue, subsequence brews are a lot weaker, usually goes for 3 infusion for mine, i use slightly hot water 74< at 90-100 secs. find that anything below that came out quite weak.

This tea is a good, cheap way to get introduced to the gyokuro side of things. Fairly easy to brew but sometimes difficult to balance between too light and slightly over brewed. Very good complex flavor and aroma.

A mild Japanese green tea with good flavor, reminiscent of gyokuro.

If you like gyokuro... you will like this.

A very smooth and sweet tea with a unique flavor. A nice seaweed taste that makes this different than other teas I have tried. The color is lacking which made me think on my first brew that it was not brewed long enough or maybe would be weak, but this was not the case.
My favorite so far

Sweet with a beautiful intense color and a great aroma (both in the bag and brewed). Awesome value!
