Ratings and Reviews of Oku Yutaka Organic Sencha
Customer reviews
- Timur HuseyinDec 17, 2016, 23:34Got through several brews of this over the last two weeks; and was surprised how good it is. Great fragrance, colour and taste. Hits 3 brews well with the expected profile changes across each brew. Definitely one of my favourite green teas of 2016. Will be one to come back to for future orders.
- Wendy A. OttMar 14, 2016, 13:10I have reordered this tea many times. It is one of my favorites.
- Elina RajalaFeb 10, 2016, 02:11Really good, sweet sencha. The flavour is mellow with nice little acidic "zing" to it. As a chumushi it's not as strong as fukamushi senchas in terms of flavour, but it is really nice as it is; light, smooth and grassy. Just brew it carefully since Oku Yutaka gets bitter quite easily.
- Steve RussellJun 13, 2015, 00:33Unlike other teas I bought through o-cha.com, this tea did not come in a resealable bag. No complaints otherwise.
- Lyndon LivingstoneFeb 19, 2015, 22:45I brewed according to the instructions and the flavor is strong and a little sweet. I really enjoy this tea although I don't normally enjoy deep steamed teas. Recommended.
- Ryan RobbinsSep 11, 2014, 06:25This is a lovely sencha. Super smooth, goes down the throat with ease. Vegetal, with even some milkiness.
Resteeps really well.
This tea relaxes me; I dig it. - Alexey IskhakovJul 25, 2013, 12:00It is fun to read as some customers found here some 'lingering umami' and even 'lingering umamai'. Did You meant 旨み? Taste?
I do not trust 'organic' teas, because of high price and so-so quality, and I bought it from curiosity.
When I opened that package I wasn't really impressed, because chunky pieces of tealeaves and big amount of teadust. Tea has some bitter smell and brownish colour which usually comes with deep steaming. I am not really into deep steamed teas.
However, that one is good, it has good strong sencha taste, little grassy, little bitter, and it has proper aftertaste. It get bitter fast if You overbrew it, but it is normal :)
BTW, a very good tea, not really sure if it match it's price. - André Della CasaJun 22, 2013, 16:33This was my first order and experience of fresh sencha so I cannot compare it with other tees. Opening the package there was a wonderful, strong sweet smell that remembers passionfruit. The taste in the cup ist intense and delicious, the second steep tends to be bitter, so I brew it for a shorter time.
- John HarveyAug 4, 2012, 09:00This tea definitely does justice to the term "organic". It is delicious!
- Rumen BlagoevJul 31, 2010, 09:00I just finished my first cup of this tea. Very delicious, long umamai flavor. I will include it in my regular list along with the higher priced teas here.
