Gyokuro

Gyokuro is celebrated as the zenith of Japanese green teas, constituting less than half a percent of all the green tea produced in Japan. This rare and exquisite tea is renowned for its distinctive cultivation method. Approximately three weeks before harvest, the tea bushes are covered to block out 90% of sunlight. This intensive shading technique significantly enhances the tea's flavor and aroma, resulting in a deeply rich and smooth experience.

Due to the elaborate care and labor-intensive process involved in its production, gyokuro is considered a luxury and commands a higher price than other green teas. Brewing gyokuro is an art in itself, requiring careful attention to water temperature and tea ware preparation to fully appreciate its exceptional qualities.
