Kagoshima Organic Sencha Kurasawa

Score: 4.90. Votes: 10

Grown organically in Kirishima Kagoshima, Kagoshima Organic Sencha "Kurasawa" is an organic medium steamed sencha green tea which has a rather intense green-yellow color to it and carries a a nice grassy aroma. This year's version was grown semi-shaded and is considered "kabusecha".

Unique to this sencha is it's high catechin levels - this green tea has approximately 1.5 to 2 times higher levels of catechins than regular sencha! For this reason it is also packs a very astringent punch to it so brew with care at lower tempertures. If you are looking for maximum green tea health benefits and high levels of catechins, this is your tea! If brewed with care it is very delicious and flavorable, we are confident you will enjoy this product. As with all of our loose leaf green teas, packaged in nitrogen flushed packaging.

Price shown includes 100 grams of tea per package!

This is a beautiful tea! Rich green mostly whole leaves. If you follow the instruction about water temperature and timing it will yield a wonderful cup of tea. I found it grassy with very nice astringency. A very good value at this price.

Tasty tea, nice green colour. Above 70 degrees gets really bitter, brewing longer and at lower temperature is ok.

For my second tea (good quality and use brewing parameters). they have a good flavors (not too muxch herbe than my first), i have to take habit, but it is good start. It's good when goes in cold.

I did not buy this tea for the healthy benefits, as all green tea is healthy. I'm am very weary of people that just drink green tea for health reasons, I love the taste of all tea selections and look on the health benefits as a very nice byproduct. This is a wonderful tea and not difficult to brew, as long as you brew at around 68-70 degrees

This one was in my fridge since I purchased it as shincha. I was surprised how the intact the leaves were, and their deep green color, after I poured my first and second steeps. While higher temps will bring out more astringency, if brewed at slightly lower temps kurasawa offers very elegant, deep, and mellow flavors. It was a nice change from the zairai (base species) sencha I tend to drink. EXCELLENT DEAL. Advantages: brewing flexibility attractive leaves complexity and subtly in flavor profile inexpensive
