        Fukamushi Sencha Kaoru

Introducing the exquisite Fukamushi Sencha "Kaoru," a premier, first flush green tea from the fertile Makinohara district of Shizuoka Prefecture. Crafted from 100% Yabukita leaves, this tea captures the essence of spring with its young, vibrant leaves. "Kaoru" is known for its exceptionally deep green hue and thick consistency, offering an intense, grassy aroma that surpasses typical deep-steamed teas.

The flavor of "Kaoru" is rich and enduring, lingering on your palate long after your last sip, making each cup a memorable experience. Brewing is simple, though for optimal results, we recommend using a teapot designed for fukamushi-cha to fully appreciate its depth. To preserve the perfect balance of its flavors, ensure the brewing water is not too hot and the steeping time is just right.

Packaged in nitrogen-filled bags to maintain its pristine freshness, "Kaoru" is available in 100-gram packages. Prepare yourself for an unparalleled tea experience with each brew of Fukamushi Sencha "Kaoru."

                Uji Gyokuro Yume no Ukihashi

The highest grade of gyokuro sold from Japan's oldest continuously operating tea shop. O-Cha.com is honored to offer this superb green tea supplied to us from the Tsuen family who have operated their teashop from same location on the banks of the Uji river since 1160.

Uji Gyokuro "Yume no Uki-hashi" is a very high quality, first-flush gyokuro, this green tea is hand picked and is a proprietary blend of "Gokou" and "Yabukita" breeds of green tea, with the "Gokou" being prominent. Gyokuro is shade grown before harvesting, giving it a greener color and sweeter taste. Once you learn to make it properly, you wil be hooked for life! Since this is a connoisseur grade of gyokuro and is not considered a beginner's green tea, make sure to read our brewing instructions as it is brewed differently than sencha.

                        • Kabusecha

From the first harvest in Uji. Kabusecha is grown in the shade for 14~20 days before harvest under 45% shade, giving it characteristics of both sencha and gyokuro. A sweeter, less grassy and more vegetal, less astringent taste than regular sencha, you can definitely taste vegetive hints of gyokuro.  It is easy to brew, not overly astringent, medium steamed, has a lovely green color, and is reasonably priced making it an all-around versatile winner of a green tea. Although it has hints of gyokuro, be sure to brew it as you would for sencha, not gyokuro.

                              Sae Midori Sencha

Currently this product is in "shincha" form and is exactly the same product as our Sae Midori shincha.

Attention green tea aficionados! Allow us to introduce the exquisite Kagoshima Sae Midori, a first-harvest sencha that hails from the verdant southern reaches of Japan. As pioneers in the tea industry, O-Cha.com is proud to have been among the first to offer this unique variety to tea lovers worldwide. Since its introduction, Sae Midori has consistently captivated our customers.

Sae Midori is expertly cultivated from a blend of Yabukita and Asa-Tsuyu tea plants, a combination first registered in 1990. It flourishes in the warm, frost-free environment of Southern Kagoshima, producing tea leaves that yield a brilliantly emerald hue and emit a sweet, grassy aroma upon opening. This tea is a visual and sensory delight, making it a standout in any collection.

Brewing Sae Midori is straightforward, though it truly excels when steeped in a teapot designed for fukamushi-cha due to its fine, dust-like leaves. This method enhances its deep-steamed qualities for a superior tea experience.

Explore the rich, vibrant world of Kagoshima Sae Midori with our 100-gram packages—sure to become a treasured part of your tea routine. We're confident it will become a favorite!

Introducing Fukamushi Shincha "Kaoru" – an exceptional first flush green tea from the lush Makinohara district of Shizuoka Prefecture. This 100% Yabukita tea captivates with its vibrant green color and thicker consistency, enhanced by a strikingly grassy aroma that surpasses ordinary deep-steamed green teas. Experience a taste that resonates long after each sip, marking a truly memorable tea experience.

Easy to brew, though we recommend using a teapot designed for fukamushi-cha to capture its essence perfectly. For optimal flavor, avoid overly hot or prolonged brewing. Like all our teas, "Kaoru" is sealed in nitrogen-filled bags to guarantee freshness at every opening.

Available in 100-gram packages, "Kaoru" is ready to transform your tea moments into something extraordinary.

Uji Gyokuro "Fujitsubo"  is a very high quality, authentic first-flush gyokuro, this tea is a proprietary blend of Saemidori and Yabukita green tea with the Saemidori being prominent. Gyokuro is shade grown before harvesting, giving it a greener color and sweeter taste. Once you learn to make it properly, you will be hooked for life! Make sure to read our brewing instructions, as it is brewed differently than sencha.

A few years back, we stumbled upon a real treasure and immediately knew we had to have it—this incredibly delicious sencha green tea. It is crafted from the tender young buds that haven't quite reached full maturity, which gives it a unique gentle sweetness and a taste that lingers beautifully after each sip. This tea, our 100% Yabukita "Mio", comes from the first flush of spring leaves, right from the Sakabe District of the Makinohara Plateau—Japan's top spot for tea thanks to its superior soil and climate.

What sets Sencha "Mio" apart is its medium steaming process, which imparts a subtle sweetness that is distinctly pleasant. It's a flavor that stays with you, perfectly balancing sweetness with a light astringency that keeps it interesting cup after cup. This Yabukita variety captures the essence of those still-maturing young buds, known as miru-me, blending their charm with an exquisite softness that makes it one of the finest green teas you can find in Shizuoka.

Mio's sibling green tea, Haruna, also grown in the same district, is harvested just a day or two later. This slight delay allows the leaves to develop a bit more, deepening the flavor but reducing that characteristic softness just a tad.

Mio is wonderfully easy to brew, though we do recommend using a teapot designed for fukuamushi-cha to get the best results. Just remember not to use water that's too hot, or steep it too long, or use too much leaf.

Here's a little tip for brewing: cool your water to about 70 degrees Celsius (160 F) and watch carefully as the tea leaves unfurl to their full extent.

Like all our loose-leaf green teas, Mio is freshly packaged in nitrogen-filled bags to ensure it reaches you in peak condition.

Each package contains 100 grams of this delightful tea, promising many cups of serene, enjoyable moments.
